The Royal is a dream come true for teachers and students alike. It’s a place to explore, learn and share knowledge and experiences that will last a lifetime.

The Royal is the world’s largest indoor combined agricultural, horticultural, canine and equestrian event drawing more than 25,000 students annually from all points in the province and from cities and towns of all sizes.

The Royal is a uniquely Canadian experience featuring sites, sounds, tastes and even smells that are all a part of our agricultural world. From exhibits featuring live farm animals of all types to vegetables of all shapes and sizes, this is your students’ opportunity to get up close and personal with all things farm.

Let’s not forget about the food: the Cuisine Canada exhibit demonstrates the journey our food takes from field to table. It features uniquely Canadian cookery, regional dishes and recipes that turn local crops into delicious dishes.

The Royal offers students and teachers a one-of-a-kind learning experience about the nature, science and ingenuity of the Canadian agri-food system. It’s a must-see event for small classes or school groups.

Alpaca

Presented by: Alpaca Ontario
Alpacas are raised in Ontario for their exquisite fibre, and are enjoyed for their delightful personalities. Visit with Alpaca producers to learn more about these small and endearing animals.

Beef Cattle

Presented by: Ontario Cattlemen's Association
Compare and contrast the different breeds of cattle, learn the difference between a human stomach and a bovine stomach, and ask a beef producer for hands on knowledge about beef production.

Beekeeping and Honey

Presented by: Toronto District Beekeepers
Kids will be buzzing about this centre! One of the Royal's most popular attractions, this centre allows you to get up close and personal with these fascinating creatures. The Royal is host to a working hive that is behind Plexiglas so that everyone can see the inner workings of a hive, Queen Bee and all her workers!
 

Chicken

Presented by: Chicken Farmers of Ontario
Visit the 'Chick Truck' to see a scaled down version of a chicken barn! At this centre you will learn everything about on farm production practices, the nutritional content of chicken, and safe food handling.
 

Dairy Cattle

Presented by: Dairy Farmers of Ontario
Learn how milk is extracted and pasteurized. The dairy farmers will be on hand to answer questions and let you get up close and personal with the cows. Explore what happens after the milking process and see how farmers have progressed in technology from using their bare hands to a much more efficient and clean milking machine!
 

Eggs

Presented by: Burnbrae Eggs
This centre is one of the most popular displays at the Royal! Imagine testing your strength against the strength of an eggshell. Learn the art of candling and how many eggs a hen lays in a year. Burnbrae Eggs does a fabulous job of covering all of the components of egg production.
 

Farm Issues

Presented by: Ag Care and Ontario Farm Animal Council
This interactive display features the issues surrounding food and farming.  The centre has a special focus on intermediate and secondary students.  Questions about pesticides, animal care, genetic modification, urban sprawl, social impacts of farming and ethical issues are all welcomed here.
 

Field Crops

Presented by: Canada's Canola Growers
Learn all about canola! See plants in various stages of development, learn about the production cycle from planting to harvesting, and the equipment, techniques, and technologies used on today's farms.
 

Fruit & Vegetable

Presented by: Ontario Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association
Map you own course towards healthy living and learn where your food comes from when you visit the Fruit and Vegetable Education Centre.  Complete your tour by getting your hands dirty while learning the connection between growing fruits and vegetables and growing healthy!
 

Goat

Presented by: Woolwich Dairy and Ontario Dairy Goat Cooperative
It is all about the goats at this education centre! See a variety of goat breeds at different ages of development. Also compare and contrast dairy goat milking equipment with that of dairy cattle milking equipment.
 

Horse EquiMania!

Presented by: Equine Guelph, University of Guelph
This, interactive youth education program created by Equine Guelph, promotes horse health and safety.  Don't miss the life size statue of a horse that shows everything you need to know about horse anatomy...right down to the bare bones!  From the hands-on learning resource, interactive website (www.EquiMania.ca), activity centre and games, the EquiMania! education centre, is a must for horse enthusiasts of all ages.  Click here to download EquiMania Exercise Book
 

Llama

Presented by: Sonny's Llama Farm
Watch your shirtsleeve at this centre! With their long necks, Llamas can eat leaves and graze on grass quite easily. Visit this centre to learn more about Llamas. Compare and contrast the physical characteristics between Llamas and Alpacas.
 

Maple Syrup

Presented by:  Ontario Maple Syrup Producers Association
This education centre will teach you everything from sap to syrup. Visit the Northern Ontario Sugar Bush and learn how maple syrup is collected at today's sugar bushes, find out about the different products available, and delve into the history behind the production.
 

Sheep

Presented by: Ontario Sheep Marketing Agency
Did you know that sheep were one of the first animals to be domesticated? And they are among the most efficient of all domestic animals. Visit this centre to learn how sheep are raised in Ontario for meat, wool, and production of dairy products.
 

Pigs

Presented by: Ontario Pork
This centre really does a great job of educating consumers about the pork industry. From the Pig Mobile housing baby piglets to a variety of breeds on display, this centre has it all. Additionally, the centre is staffed by actual Swine Farmers who can answer a wide variety of questions. This centre is a favourite at the Royal Education Program and really is a must see for all visitors.
 

Veal

Presented by: Ontario Veal Association
Canadian Veal farmers are recognized as world leaders for their technical, scientific and humane approach to veal farming. Visit this centre to find out from experts how veal is raised in Ontario.
