Meet the Riders - Indoor Eventing

 

#15 DIANA BURNETT riding Manny
Blackstock, Ontario
In 2008 Diana & Manny were named as alternates for the Olympic team and trained with them. This year they completed the Rolex Kentucky CCI4* and the Land Rover Burghley CCI4* in England. Tonight Diana is riding Manny, 8yr. Thoroughbred X gelding who she owns with John and Nadia Lennox
 
# 9 SELENA O’HANLON
Elgin, Ontario
Selena is one of the country’s top young talents. Long listed in 2007 this year she represented Canada at the Olympics in Hong Kong. Tonight she is riding a 6yr old mare owned by Moran O’Hanlon & Diane Lawrence. Heron Hills Wilhelmina was Canada’s Young Event Horse Champion in 2008, and also overall Canadian Warmblood Champion.   This year this pair has entered 7 events, with a 3rd place Finish at Wit’s End, their first CCI*.
 
#17 JESSICA PHOENIX riding Exploring
Cannington, Ontario,
12 yr. Canadian bred gelding.
In 2007 Jessica was 12th individually at the Pan AM Games. Short listed for the Olympic Games 2008, a last minute injury to her horse prevented them from.   This year Jessica was 5th at the Jersey Fresh 3*, 10th & 13th in the World Cup Qualifier at Wit’s End and the highest placed Canadian at Blenheim 3* in England. Both Expoential & Exploring have qualified for the World Equestrian Games in Kentucky next year.
 
#12 WAYLON ROBERTS
Port Perry, Ontario
Waylon was a member of the silver medal Eventing Team at the 2007 Pan American Games, and is a 2-time winner of this competition. 2009 has been a very good year for his two top horses Sebastian & Gigi, with great results, especially at Blenheim Palace CCI***, Alerton Park and Witton Castle in England, as well as Fairhill, Kentucky, Wits End and Bromont. He will be riding Renegade. 11yr. gelding owned by Jenna Kuzenko
 
#16 PENNY ROWLAND riding Roundabout
Orangeville, Ontario
Penny will be riding Roundabout, 16yr.old Canadian gelding. Penny broke onto the Canadian eventing scene in 1998, were members of the Silver Medal Team at the 2003 Pan American Games. Don Good, a generous supporter of Canadian eventing, owns several of Penny’s international horses, including Roundabout the horse she is riding tonight 
 
#18 KARL SLEZAK riding Watson's Shelbreen
Caledon East, Ontario
Karl has been on the CET short list for the past 2 Olympic years. His most recent success was at Fairhill International this past October.   Pavarotti, owned by Don Good, has first or second at all of his Preliminary Horse Trials and was upgraded to Intermediate in October, when he was 3rd at Grandview. Pavarotti shows great promise for the future.
 
#14 JEAN RABLAT riding Pavarotti
France
Pavarotti, a 7 year old Wesphalien Gelding, co-owned with Don Good. Pavarotti was 2nd at the Florida International CCI* in 2008. Jean moved to Canada from France 9 years ago, where he had been a successful show jumper. He started evening in North America. This year he and his own Bellaney Rock were 6th at Rocking Horse Open Intermediated, 3rd at Rocking Horse Advance and 27th at The Fork CCI3*.
 
#11 OLIVER TOWNEND riding Djion
Great Britain, Ontario.
Djion is a Buckskin Reservation bred Mustang from BC, owned by Kelly Plitz and ridden by Ian Roberts to the One Star level. Oliver was born to ride, his father competed at Burghley and his mother showed side saddle. He first competed at Badminton in 2005, placing 12, then 3rd in 2006. He was on the British Gold Medal team for WEG, and then Gold Medalist at the European Championships in 2007.    This year he won both Badminton on Flint & Burghley on Carousel Quest, a double which puts him in an elite group of riders.

SINEAD HALPIN riding ShowDown
United States
28 year old on United States Equestrian Team  High Performance List (short listed) with Manoir De Carneville. 2009 Developing Rider for USET. 5th at Fair Hill International CCI*** Championships. ICP Certified. 5th at Wits End CCI*** World Cup Qualifier Ontario, Canada. Headed to Rolex this Spring. Spent Last Year In England riding for William Fox-Pitt. ShowDown is an 11 y/o  16'3 grey Irish Sport Horse Completed Jersey Fresh CCI***. Owned by Good Crop Services sponsor Don Good
