Competition Information

Entry Deadline: Friday October 17, 2025. Late entries can be made online until Friday October 31, 2025 with the late entry fee.

Entry Fee: $60 per entry. Late Entry Fee: $250 per entry.

Move In / Out Information

Time of Arrival:

  • Move-in to the Industry Building (Main Barn) will begin Monday November 10, 2025, at 2:00 PM.
  • Move-in to the North Extension (Hall H) will continue the same as in previous years following the clean out and early morning move-in on Wednesday November 12, 2025.

Time of Release: Saturday November 15, 2025, beginning once The Fair closes. Release will be announced by the Dairy Cattle Superintendent. All cattle must be gone from the barns by Sunday November 16, 2025, at 10:00 AM. Failure to comply will result in disciplinary action.

PLEASE NOTE

  • Out of province exhibitors can make arrangements to house animals in barns located near Toronto prior to move in. Contact Harry Emmott for more information.

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

  • Attention US Exhibitors: Please refer to the Dairy Cattle Rules & Regulations for Import Permit Process and Testing Requirements.
  • Standard Agreement Form: All exhibitors must read and acknowledge that they understand the Dairy Cattle Code of Ethics by signing the entry form. Entries will not be processed if the Standard Exhibitor's and Standard Agreement between Owners and Fitters are not signed.
To be eligible for participation in the 2025 National Ayrshire Show at The Royal, an animal must have a percentage of purity equal to or greater than 87%, according to the Ayrshrie Canada calculation method.

    2024 JUNIOR AYRSHIRE SHOWMANSHIP


    * No Entry Fee *
    Entry Deadline: All exhibitors must pre-register with Ayrshire Canada the morning of the show.
    Prize Money:
    1st - $50, 2nd - $40, 3rd - $30, all remaining entires will recieve $20 that is paid directly by the Ayrshire Breeders' Association of Canada. Each contestant will recieve $10 from Ayrshire Ontario.

    Rules and Regulations

    1. This showmanship class is open to any 4-H member or young person from across Canada or internationally from a dairy farm who is 10 - 21 years of age as of January 1, 2024.
    2. Any non-milking heifer may be exhibited up to the age of intermediate yearling.
    3. The animal must be exhibited at The Royal Ayrshire Show


    Prize Money


    Please Note: The Royal will not issue payment on earnings less that $25
    Six (6) placings will be awarded prize money when there are 10 or more animals exhibited in the class
    Four (4) placings will be awarded prize money when there are 9 or fewer animals exhibited in the class

    Presented to the winning Breeder's Herd by the Ness familities of R.R. Ness & Sons Ltd. Established in 1897, dispersed in 1976 after attaining highest recognition of fellow breeders throughtout Canada and the USA.

    Glencameron Farm Trophy (Perpetual)

    Presented to the Junior Ayrshire Showmanship Champion by the MacGillivary Family, formerly of Brome, QC.

    The W. Erskine & E. Ross Rodger Memorial Trophy (Perpetual)

    Presented to the 4-H member showing the highest placing 4-H Heifer in the open show at the RAWF. Presented by the Rodger families, formerly of Lachute & Cownsville, QC.

    The Stansell Challenge Trophy (Perpetual)

    Presented to the Best Cow, any age, in milk, bred and owned by the exhibitor, that has qualified in the "Record of Performance" with the highest protein yeild. The qualifying record must be reported on the Entry Form. Previous winners of this award will not be eligible. Presented in memory of the late John L. Stansell, Aylmer, ON.

    The J.H Black Memorial Trophy (Perpetual)

    Presented to the highest yielding Ayrshire Cow for fat. To be eligible, a cow must have placed within the first five placings in the class in which she is shown. Presented by the Ayrshire Breeders' Association of Canada in memory of the late J.H. Black, Lachute, QC

    The John D. McCaig Memorial Trophy (Perpetual)

    Donated by the Ayrshire Breeders' Association of Canada in memory of the late John D. McCaig. Presented to the exhibitor of the cow with the highest composite BCA on any complete record. To be eligible, the cow must palce in hte top two of her class.

    The Ayrshire Breeders' Association of Canada offers a Special Rosette to the individual, partnership, or institution winning the most points with a maximum of six (6) head owned and exhibited by the exhibitor in the open single classes. Points will be automatically calculated on only the exhibitor's six (6) highest placing animals. Points will be awarded as follows:

    Senior Females:1st - 20, 2nd - 18, 3rd - 16, 4th - 14, 5th - 12, 6th - 10th, 7th - 8, 8th - 6, 9th - 4, 10th - 2

    Junior Females: 1st - 10, 2nd - 9, 3rd - 8, 4th - 7, 5th - 6, 6th - 5, 7th - 4, 8th - 3, 9th - 2, 10th - 1

    Family Unit: If an animal or serveral animals are registered with an Ayrshire Association in the names of immediate members of a family, these persons may combine entries as a 'Family Unit', and be considered as one exhibitor. In order to qualify as a 'Family Unit', all animals must be kept in the same herd.

    The Ayrshire Breeders' Association of Canada offers a Special Rosette to the individual, partnership, or institution winning the most points on animals bred by him/her in the open single classes, including animals bred by him/her but exhibited by others. No limit on number exhibited but award automatically figured on top six (6) animals. Points will be awarded as follows:

    Production Award

    Presented to recognize the achievements of the Ayrshire Breed, the recipient of this award must have placed among the top five (5) in its class and have the highest composite BCA on any completed record. Entries in classes 2,3,4,5, Mature Cow, and Longtime Production classes are eligible. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor to provide proof of production. This award is sponsored by Lactanet.

    Best Udder

    The judge will designate best udder in classes 9-18. These designated exhibits shall compete for first and second Best Udder.

    Rosettes and Prize Money: Champion - $100; Reserve Champion - $75

    Quality Seeds Supreme Dairy Champion - The Grand Champions from the National Aryshire Show, the National Holstein Show, the National Red & White Holstein Show, and the National Jersey Show will compete for the title of Supreme Dairy Champion and a prize of $2,000.

    Quality Seeds Supreme Junior Dairy Champion - The Junior Champions from the Canadian 4-H Dairy Classic, the National Ayrshire Show, the National Holstein Show, the National Red & White Holstein Show, and the National Jersey Show will compete for the title of Supreme Junior Dairy Champion and a prize of $1,000.
